Envelopes are available in a range of sizes with the four most common for business being: C4, C5, C6 or DL.
• DL – the most popular envelope for
standard business letters; takes an A4
sheet folded twice to one third its
flat size
• C4 – takes an A4 sheet flat and unfolded,
useful for catalogues or brochures which
cannot be folded.
• C5 – takes an A4 sheet folded once
• C6 – takes an A4 sheet folded twice or an
A5 sheet folded once

The Printing Process
The recent developments in printing technologies means that there is no longer any necessity to produce large volumes to make it a viable proposition for the printed envelope. Our digital process allows smaller, more affordable quantities to be produced quickly and efficiently.
Our envelopes can be printed in a single or full colour style and can be recreated using your existing business stationery at no extra charge. Specialist designs or reply-paid envelopes can be produced by our designers and will be quoted on request.
The three basic styles of envelopes
for business are as follows:
• Banker – opening flap is on the long edge
• Wallet – has a shorter, squared flap
on the short edge
• Pocket – another style referred to the
larger envelopes with a flap which opens on the short edge
Options for the seal style:
• Gummed – basic flaps with a gum that
requires moistening to seal.
• Self-seal – uses a latex to seal without
requiring moistening.
• Peel-and-seal – a dry adhesive with a
liner that must be removed for sealing.
